The Team

Cundall’s Civil Engineering team has a proud track record of delivering innovative and sustainable civil and infrastructure solutions. Our work is focused on improving and protecting the environments in which we live, while enabling the facilities and services that support everyday life, transport, and industry.

As one of Cundall’s longest-established disciplines, the Civil Engineering team is recognised internationally for its expertise, proactive collaboration, and commitment to professional excellence.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Riyadh office and support the delivery of a major hospitality project in Riyadh, with a particular emphasis on site supervision, design compliance and quality assurance during the construction phase.

Working alongside talented engineers, technicians, and colleagues across multiple disciplines, you will contribute to the delivery of this technically excellent, commercially successful project.

The Senior Civil Engineer will oversee all civil and infrastructure works on site, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and project standards. The role requires strong coordination, technical review capability, and daily monitoring of contractor activities to ensure quality, safety, and progress.

• Supervise civil works including earthworks, roads, utilities, drainage, pavements, and external works.
• Review and comment on shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, ITPs, and RFIs.
• Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and authority requirements.
• Conduct daily site inspections, NCRs, SORs, and quality audits.
• Verify alignment, levels, setting out, and overall site workmanship.
• Coordinate with structural, architectural, and MEP teams on interface issues.
• Monitor schedule, identify delays, and advise on mitigation.
• Participate in weekly progress and technical meetings.
• Ensure HSE compliance in coordination with the site safety team.
• Support preparation of progress reports and site records.

The Skills

Educated to degree level in Civil Engineering (BEng or MEng), with previous experience in site supervision roles within building or infrastructure projects.

Strong understanding of civil codes, standards, and authority regulations (KSA preferred), consultancy/site supervision experience is mandatory.

You will bring strong technical capability combined with practical construction‑phase experience, with key skills including:

  • Design of external works and infrastructure for development projects and masterplans, including grading strategies, finished floor relationships and interfaces with buildings and landscapes.
  • Earthworks design, including cut‑and‑fill solutions, excavation strategies and volumetric assessments.
  • Preparation and technical review of earthworks and excavation packages, ensuring alignment with approved design intent.
  • Design of pavement build‑ups, hardstandings and external works, considering long‑term performance and constructability.
  • Design and coordination of stormwater, foul sewerage and other wet utility systems, including technical input to authority submissions.
  • Strong capability in utility coordination, integrating civil infrastructure with buildings, plots and multidisciplinary design information.
  • Extensive experience coordinating with architectural, structural, MEP and landscape teams to ensure integrated and compliant design solutions.

You will be confident operating in a technical review and verification role during construction, including:

  • Detailed technical review of contractor submissions such as shop drawings, material submittals, method statements and ITPs, confirming compliance with the approved civil design.
  • Provide site supervision and technical surveillance, monitoring workmanship, materials and implementation against the design.
  • Identifying and reporting non‑conformances, supporting technical close‑out and resolution.
  • Witnessing testing, commissioning and performance activities relevant to civil and infrastructure works, where required.
  • Reviewing and technically verifying as‑built drawings and handover documentation.

You will be well‑versed in industry‑standard software, including AutoCAD and Civil 3D, with experience using hydraulic and drainage modelling tools such as InfoDrainage, WaterGEMS or SewerGEMS.

Experience delivering projects within the region is essential, with involvement across the full project lifecycle from concept and detailed masterplanning through to detailed design and construction support, and a strong understanding of local authority approval processes.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical judgement with effective project leadership, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple workstreams, support programme and budget objectives from a technical standpoint, and mentor junior engineers. Above all, you will share Cundall’s passion for creative, sustainable and technically robust design excellence.
