The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Technician to join our Edinburgh office to work on the design of some of the most exciting and prestigious civil engineering projects in the UK and worldwide. We have a fantastic pipeline of work which includes projects across the UK and around the world. 

As part of our established team, and working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will prepare 2D and 3D/BIM models and drawings as well as technical reporting input at all stages of a project lifecycle. You will work across a variety of sectors including Highways & Active Travel and Infrastructure & Masterplanning and will have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills develop. With accredited professional development programmes from the ICE, you will be supported through professional accreditations if relevant. 

The Skills

You will have gained strong practical experience in a Civil Engineering role within a design consultancy environment and are already well-versed in relevant civil design software such as Autodesk Civil 3D. Ideally, a working knowledge of QGIS would also be beneficial. 

Job responsibilities: 

  • Provision of technical inputs across the highways specialism including design drawings and 2D and 3D models.  
  • Show technical competence including the use of software such as Civils 3D and the Microsoft Office Suite of programmes.  
  • Have appropriate experience in the design of development infrastructure projects. 
  • Have a strong understanding of civil engineering design principles. 
  • Work as part of the team to undertake a range of technical design and written deliverables. 
  • Knowledge and experience of design software packages including InfoDrainage and KeySign/Post would be advantageous but not essential.  

With knowledge of DMRB, Manual for Streets and other local authority specific standards, you will have experience of working in a multidisciplinary environment, operating across a matrix of projects.
