Curious about the electricity grid? Here’s your chance to join our Power Systems team…
Are you curious about how the high-voltage electricity network works?
The transmission and distribution systems transport power from generators to consumers — they are hugely complex and central to everyday life. With Net Zero and electrification transforming the way we use energy; the grid is arguably the single most important piece of infrastructure now and for the future.
We now have a rare opportunity for an internal candidate to join our Power Systems team and develop skills in Protection & Control (P&C) — the systems that act as the “nervous system” of the grid, constantly monitoring and controlling how electricity flows.
P&C ensures that faults are detected and isolated in milliseconds, equipment is protected, and the lights stay on for millions of people. Without it, the electricity network simply couldn’t function.
We’re looking for someone motivated, curious, and keen to build on their existing CAD skills to become a specialist P&C CAD Technician. This is your chance to transfer your current CAD experience into a new area of engineering — working with our dedicated team on:
You’ll learn how to interpret engineering sketches, develop P&C schematics, and play a vital role in the design of substations and other high-voltage infrastructure.

Who this would suit
This role would suit existing CAD/Revit Technicians from other disciplines, or engineers up to intermediate grade who want to move into a highly specialised and fast-growing area of power engineering.
This is a unique internal opportunity to work with one of Cundall’s most specialist teams, in an area that underpins the energy transition. If you’re curious about how the grid really works and want to be part of its future, we’d love to hear from you and if you have any query about this role please feel free to ask before you apply.
We know that to be the best at what we do we need a diverse workforce underpinned by an inclusive culture.
