In order to keep up with the demands of the organisation, we require an interim Financial Controller to provide cover for 12 months to provide leadership to the Finance Team from Cundall’s head office in Newcastle and ensure the sound maintenance and production of practice-wide accounting information and processes.
Reporting directly to Cundall’s Finance Director, you will assume responsibility for the overall management and of the monthly management accounting cycle for the UK operation, ensuring up-to-date information is available for review by the Finance Director ahead of Management Board meetings.
You will also take a lead in cash-flow management and forecasting for the Practice, review of accounting input from members of the Finance team, planning and management of the completion of all required budget and performance management tasks, with support from other members of the Finance team.
You will be a crucial point of contact for Partners throughout the business in relation to their partnership and personal tax affairs and will therefore build and maintain strong relationships with Partners and all internal and external stakeholders.
You will also harness your excellent team management skills to ensure the effective operational performance of the Finance team (e.g. resource/task allocation), and to this end will carry out team appraisals and identify any ongoing training, performance management or recruitment needs.
A fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA), you have gained strong practical experience, some of which from within a private practice, in one of the 'big 4' or mid-tier accountancy firms. You will possess strong technical accounting skills, and a track record in implementing and maintaining internal controls, working with integrated management information/ ERP systems, and exposure to finance and accountancy issues in an international business environment.
You have proven people management skills, and excellent customer service standards, dealing professionally, confidently, and effectively with internal staff and external contacts and advisers.
Experience of working in or with professional partnerships is desirable. Experience in data systems and analytics is highly desirable.
