The Team

We are an award winning global consultancy and have been named Building’s Engineering Consultant of the Year in 2024, 2022 and 2021. We are at the forefront of the industry, priding ourselves on our exemplary track record of designing innovative and sustainable projects.

Sustainability runs through everything we do at Cundall, and our people are empowered to drive change and decarbonise the built environment. By the end of this decade, we have set ourselves an ambitious goal to only work on projects that meet our zero carbon design criteria, a commitment we have called our Zero Carbon Design 2030 goal. We need engineers who share this passion for sustainability and thrive in designing energy efficient buildings and communities.

For over 20 years, Cundall’s Australian team have been creating a ripple effect across the property sector through applying the science of sustainability to achieve market-leading firsts. Our achievements include some of the first 5 Star Green Star and 6 Star Green Star ratings in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, and Perth.

Our world-leading, and growing, project pipeline needs more talent to deliver its sustainable design potential – contact us today to find out more about this exciting opportunity to join our team.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented, passionate, and motivated Building Physics Consultant to join our world-leading sustainability team at our office in Perth to work on the design of some of the most exciting sustainable design projects in Australia. We expect all team members to aim to go well beyond industry standards to positively impact every project we work on.

As an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team, and working closely with colleagues across multiple offices, you will inspire, analyse, report, model, and document Sustainability projects and liaise with clients with the aim of expanding the project portfolio.

You will ideally have experience in a similar role working in ESD consulting in the built environment and be looking to take the next step in your career and increase your client exposure, job management, and leadership qualities.

Your work will span all sectors and potentially offer a high degree of autonomy, and the ability to influence, and in some cases lead, our national capabilities, and processes, based on the level of experience already gained in the industry.

The Skills

  • Engineering, Architecture, or built environment related degree.
  • 3-5+ years of consulting experience in the built environment sector.
  • Candidates with more years of experience may be considered for a Senior Consultant role.

  • Experience with CFD modelling software, analysing wind comfort and ventilation.
  • Experience with preparing strategy, implementation, and certification of best practice certification schemes, including Living Building Challenge, Green Star, NABERS, and WELL Building Standard.
  • Developed knowledge of engineering and architectural principles to analyse and interpret documentation and drawings.
  • Possess a body of knowledge that allows you to evaluate ESD attributes and opportunities within designs, and where improvements are required (mechanical, façade, spatial, etc).
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team and environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, effectively resourcing to meet client deadlines.

Preferable, but not essential

  • NABERS Assessor
  • Green Star Accredited Professional
  • WELL Accredited Professional
  • Experience in Climate Active & Carbon Neutral.
  • Experience with Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) using OneClick or equivalent software.

We provide a diverse and inclusive work environment and offer many benefits to ensure your professional development while maintaining a healthy work-life balance such as flexible start and finish times, working from home, diverse and exciting engineering projects, paid parental leave, paid purchase leave, professional memberships, birthday day off, amongst others.
