Cundall’s Planning team pride ourselves on our exemplary track record of providing first-class planning and environmental input on a wide variety of building projects throughout the UK. Our clients including local authorities and government organisations, private developers, house builders, housing associations and education providers. We offer a pro-active and collaborative approach to skill development, and professional excellence.
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Planning Consultant to join our team at Cundall’s Head Office in Newcastle to work on some of the most exciting building design and mixed-use regeneration projects in the UK.
As part of our established team of planning experts, and working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will conduct research on planning and environmental issues, prepare project reports (e.g. heritage statements, site waste management plans, environmental impact assessments), attend project and design meetings, and act as a key liaison between Cundall and external partners regarding negotiation and technical queries.
Examples of our planning work can be found at http://www.cundall.com/Services/Planning.aspx, and include the Malings residential development in Newcastle (http://www.themalings.co.uk) the Sill, a new Landscape Discovery Centre and Youth Hostel in the Northumberland National Park (http://www.thesill.org.uk/) and The Riverside Sunderland Masterplan (https://www.riversidesunderland.com/)
Holding a degree in Town Planning or an equivalent subject area and having gained relevant experience within a Town Planning or a related environmental field, you can demonstrate qualitative and quantitative research skills and experience of report writing.
You have demonstrable knowledge and experience of EIA regulations, and as an analytical thinker, you possess strong attention to detail, as well as the ability to organise multiple priorities and meet challenging deadlines.
You have a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, are able to manage your own time to meet deadlines and you have an appreciation of the commercial factors which affect design solutions. Given that the role will be inevitably home-based to start with, candidates must be capable of working on their own initiative but also recognise when they require support from the rest of the team.
An interest or knowledge/experience in heritage planning would be beneficial but not essential.
Given the collaborative and client focussed nature of this role, excellent communication skills and experience of using your initiative to overcome challenges are essential.
Cundall values equality and diversity, and welcomes applications from candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
